When speculation first began around Rahul Gandhi’s leave of absence, the Congress scion was rumoured to have escaped to balmy Bangkok. Now it appears, he might be in the plains of Uttarakhand. His party refuses to confirm either but why not let our imagination run a little wild in the hunt for Congress’s heir apparent?

Spaced out

In his attempt to get far, far away from the madness of politics, perhaps Gandhi is floating towards the imaginary black hole Gargantua from Interstellar, a la Matthew McConaughey. See you in the fifth dimension, brother.

Game’s up

George RR Martin’s world of Westeros could be like the present-day Congress where knives are always out and beheadings loom large. In preparation for his upcoming coronation, Gandhi is probably taking lessons on how to fend them off from the mother of all mind games, Cersei.

Little prince

If only India wasn’t so hell-bent on this democracy idea. Fed up of it all, Gandhi might have taken off to a more Utopian land — North Korea — where another prince ( Kim Jong Un) gets to have anything his heart desires.

Bail me out

After teetering on collapse, Greece has secured another bailout from the EU for its financial troubles. It’s highly possible that Gandhi is secluded on a Grecian island drawing inspiration from the crisis and hoping to God that someone will do the same for him.

One Direction are the music industry’s pin-ups, sending young girls into a swoon currently on their world tour. Being a part of their entourage, might be good for Gandhi, the once-upon-a-time heartthrob of Congress party who has lost his touch.
