Dr. Juergen Morhard is breaking tradition this Christmas. “This year will certainly go down in memory as a lifetime experience,” says the Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany. “As we all have learnt that the virus knows no borders, and the pandemic can only be contained by 'new borders" i.e. global travel restrictions. Families are unable to come together,” he says. This will be the first year Dr Morhard and his wife won’t be spending the festive season with their sons and their partners.

Dr Morhard misses the Christmas coziness the weather adds when celebrating in Germany and even his Mumbai traditions. “We always looked forward to the annual Christmas concert by the Stop Gaps at the NCPA in Mumbai. This year, however, we may have to make do with virtual merriment,” he shares.

However, while they do plan to celebrate in a new way by spending Christmas Eve with a few close friends in Mumbai, one thing is constant: the menu. “We will be sticking to our all-time family favourite, Swiss Raclette,” he says.
