How Indra Nooyi stays ahead of the pack: Reading, meeting people like Travis Kalanick, Brian Chesky

There is never a dull moment for PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi. When she’s not busy running one of the world’s biggest conglomerates, she’s thinking about ways to stay ahead of the pack.

Asked how she manages to catch up with the changing face of business and new-age competition, Nooyi told a business magazine — “Through books. I’m reading now on disruptive technologies that gives you a snapshot of how much the world is going to change.”

But it’s not just through the written word that she keeps up.

“To me, people like Marc Andreessen [co-founder of Andreessen Horowitz], Travis Kalanick, [founder, Uber] and Brian Chesky [CEO, Airbnb] are the people we should talk to once or twice a year. You just have to. It’s this hunger for knowing how people are thinking about disrupting your business or the world around you,” Nooyi said.
