How Capgemini in India celebrated their 50th anniversary with a Guinness record
Capgemini, a global leader in consulting, technology, and outsourcing services, celebrated its 50th anniversary by setting a Guinness World Records title for its initiative 'ROAR - The Fit India Movement'.

ROAR (Run Over Another Record) saw over 4,930 employees from seven cities perform 15 fitness routines to a six-minute fitness video.

The certificate for 'The Most People Exercising to a Fitness Video at Multiple Venues' was presented to Srinivas Kandula, Country Head-India, Capgemini, in Bengaluru.

Founded by Serge Kampf in Grenoble 50 years ago, Capgemini is present in about 40 countries with a staff of 200,000. It supports over 6,000 clients across sectors and has completed more than 50 acquisitions.

Kandula said, "This is not only the celebration of the past five decades, but also the beginning of our journey for the next 50 years. We are urging our employees to join us with vigour and energy by investing in physical wellness, self-development and in the betterment of the larger community."

The celebrations were kick-started with two campaigns — MOVEFIFTY and MyJashn50 — designed on three key pillars of employee engagement, CSR, Wellness and Fun@Work.

MOVEFIFTY includes three Capgemini CSR projects in education across India, Guatemala and France. Employees can download 'KM for Change', a MOVEFIFTY mobile app, select the project they want to contribute to and let the app track the number of kilometres they walk, run, cycle, etc. The group has pledged 50,000 euros to these projects. An additional 50,000 euros can be added through employees using the hashtag #Capgemini50, and sharing 200,000 posts across social media. Capgemini has organised multi-city walkathons and over 2,500 employees have participated.

When asked Capgemini about layoffs, the company did not deny that some had been asked to leave, but added that it expects to recruit over 20,000 new team members in India this year.
