Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas got married in 2018, following both Christian and Hindu rituals. The couple who first met each other at the Vanity Fair Oscars Party in Los Angeles in 2017 never fail to dish out couple goals, often sharing updates of their personal lives on Instagram. Back in March, the Citadel actress appeared on the Mythical Kitchen Podcast, where she opened up about her gala ‘roka’ aka engagement ceremony. But the standout moment came when the global icon recalled what her now-husband told her right after the event, which left a deep impression on her.

Inside Priyanka Chopra-Nick Jonas roka

Priyanka Chopra, in a candid conversation with host Josh Scherer, revealed that her roka ceremony was steeped in tradition, with four Hindu priests chanting sacred mantras as the rituals unfolded.

The actress described how her mother, Madhu Chopra, had transformed the lower level of the house for the occasion by clearing the furniture and creating a traditional low-seating arrangement around a havan kund, the sacred fire altar used for the ceremony. Walking into that setting, surrounded by the chants and rituals, made her feel as though she was stepping into an entirely new chapter of her life.

Nick Jonas on reincarnation

Priyanka Chopra shared that Nick Jonas embraced every ritual with sincerity, much to the delight of her extended family. After the ceremony concluded, the couple went upstairs to change before rejoining everyone for lunch. It was during that quiet moment that Nick held her hand and told her he felt as though they were already in their third or fourth lifetime together.

Explaining the significance of his words, Priyanka Chopra said that in Hindu weddings, the seven rounds around the sacred fire symbolize a promise to remain together for seven lifetimes, reflecting the belief in reincarnation and soulmates finding each other across multiple lives. Curious about what made him feel that way, she asked Nick why he believed they had shared previous lifetimes.
