House of the Dragon Season 3
The wait for the next part of House of the Dragon is almost over now. After a long gap, the makers have finally locked the release timeline, and fans in India also have clarity on when the story will continue. The show, which serves as a prequel to Game of Thrones, is moving deeper into the brutal civil war within House Targaryen, and things are only getting worse from here.

House of the Dragon Season 3 OTT release date and platform

Season 3 is scheduled to start streaming from June 22, 2026 in India. The series will be available on JioHotstar, so viewers will need an active subscription to watch new episodes.

As per information around the release, the show will follow a weekly episode drop pattern internationally, though Indian streaming details suggest a full-season style listing as well. There is some mixed reporting on episode count, with one update mentioning eight episodes while another suggests a longer format.

What the story will focus on this time

The upcoming season continues the Dance of the Dragons, where the battle for the Iron Throne has reached a dangerous point. Both sides are struggling to control their forces, and even the dragons are becoming harder to manage. What started as a fight for succession is now turning into something much larger and more chaotic.

Rhaenyra Targaryen tries to strengthen her side by adding new dragon riders, but this decision brings uncertainty because their loyalty is not fully assured. At the same time, Aemond Targaryen’s rule in King’s Landing is creating fear and discomfort among allies and common people. Meanwhile, Daemon Targaryen is gathering strength in the Riverlands, setting the stage for a bigger and more destructive clash.

The story is based on George R. R. Martin’s Fire & Blood and is set around 200 years before Game of Thrones. It revolves around a succession crisis that begins when King Viserys I names Rhaenyra as his heir, leading to rival claims and eventually a brutal civil war that threatens the future of House Targaryen.

Cast and characters returning

Season 3 brings back several key faces from earlier parts. Emma D'Arcy continues as Rhaenyra Targaryen, while Matt Smith returns as Daemon Targaryen. Olivia Cooke plays Alicent Hightower, and Ewan Mitchell appears as Aemond Targaryen.

Other returning cast members include Rhys Ifans, Steve Toussaint, and Tom Glynn-Carney among others, along with several new characters joining the growing conflict.

Going by early details and teaser hints, the tone of Season 3 looks darker and more destructive than before. Battles are expected to get bigger, and the emotional stakes are also rising. One key line from the teaser suggests the scale of power in play, with Daemon telling Rhaenyra that she now has “power no man has ever wielded.”
