Honor Play: Unboxing And First Impression
Honor as a brand has made its name in the sub-Rs 15,000 price segment for delivering value for money smartphones. With the Honor Play, the company now wants to get a grip in the Rs 20,000 price segment. It is also the company’s first smartphone to come out of the box with GPU Turbo for superior gaming performance.

Being a premium mid-range offering, the Honor Play comes with a 6.3-inch IPS notch style display. It has a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels giving it a screen to body ratio of 89%. The phone has an all-metal unibody design and features 4D gaming with intelligent game vibrations. The phone comes with a dual camera setup on the rear - a 16MP (f2.2) primary sensor plus a 2MP (f2.4) depth sensor with support for 4k video recording. It has an AI intelligent photography mode that can detect 22 object categories in 500+ scenarios. On the front is a 16MP selfie shooter with f2.0 aperture and 3D portrait lighting. It comes with Honor’s four in one light fusion technology for improved low light photos.

The Honor Play is a performance-focused phone and comes with the company’s top of the line Kirin 970 octa-core processor. In India, it will be available in two variants – 4GB RAM + 64GB storage and 6GB RAM with 64GB storage. There is a large 3,750mAh battery with support for fast charging. The phone features expandable storage up to 256GB but doesn’t have a dedicated slot – it comes with Hybrid dual SIM slot. For connectivity, it offers 4G, VoLTE, dual-band WiFi ac and Bluetooth 4.2. Other features include a rear fingerprint scanner and USB Type-C port.

Honor Play comes with Android 8.1 out of the box with features like AI camera, AI gallery, 3D game audio, Game suite, Face unlock and GPU Turbo. Currently, the phone’s GPU Turbo feature only supports two games – PUBG and Mobile Legends. Honor claims that with GPU Turbo users will get smoother frame rates and up to 30% improved battery life.

The 4GB RAM variant is priced at Rs 19,999 while the 6GB RAM variant is for Rs 23,999. Honor Play will be exclusively available on Amazon India and Honor's own e-commerce store from 4 pm onwards on 6th August 2018. The phone will come in two colours - Midnight Black and Navy Blue.
