NEW DELHI: Japanese auto major Honda on Thursday globally launched compact sports utility vehicle WR-V in the Indian market with prices tagged between Rs 7.75 lakh and Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) to take on the likes of Ford EcoSport and Maruti Suzuki Brezza.

Noriake Abe, chief operating officer, regional operations (Asia & Oceania), Honda Motor Company, said, " India is the first country to manufacture and launch the Honda WR-V in the world which is testimony to Honda Motor Company's commitment to the Indian market."



WR-V is the first model developed by Honda R&D India along with Honda R&D Japan. The Indian R&D team has specifically worked on design and engineering concept suitable for right-hand drive and India-exclusive powertrain.



"The fast-evolving Indian market has shown strong demand for compact vehicles that are stylish, comfortable and have premium features...We are confident that WR-V will help us to fortify our premium image in all segments", said Yoichiro Ueno, president and chief executive officer, Honda Cars India.
