Composer Ravi Basrur recently revealed how he was saved from committing suicide twice
His destiny transformed in a single stroke when audiences across India hummed the electrifying track Salaam Rocky Bhai following the 2018 release of KGF: Chapter 1. The powerful score that became a nationwide sensation was crafted by composer Ravi Basrur. Riding on the massive success of the film, he later created the soundtracks for KGF: Chapter 2, Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire, and Kabzaa. Yet, well before recognition, awards, and public admiration came his way, his life was overshadowed by intense emotional turmoil. During his teenage years, he struggled profoundly and even made attempts to end his life.

At a recent promotional event for the Telugu film Cult, the composer made a deeply personal disclosure that stunned those present. He revealed that by the time he reached eighteen, he had tried to end his life on two occasions, feeling disconnected from existence itself. Both times, he survived. The second rescue marked a turning point. The individual who intervened not only prevented a tragedy but also listened to his compositions, believed in his potential, purchased a keyboard for him, and handed him financial assistance of thirty-five thousand rupees. That gesture altered the course of his life. In tribute to that benefactor, he adopted the name Ravi, choosing to carry forward the identity of the person who had given him another chance at life.

Overwhelmed with appreciation, he further acknowledged actor Vishwak Sen for recognising not merely his musical ability but the depth of his personal journey. He expressed that this support left him permanently grateful. Videos capturing this heartfelt confession quickly spread across digital platforms, resonating strongly with viewers.

Professionally, the composer continues to scale new heights. He is currently scoring music for Yash’s forthcoming project Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups, whose teaser was unveiled recently. The film marks Yash’s return to the big screen after several years following the KGF franchise. Scheduled for release on March 19, it is expected to compete with Dhurandhar Part 2. Directed by Geethu Mohandas, the film also features Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, and Rukmini Vasanth in significant roles.
