From lean muscles to love handles, Kartik Aaryan had transformed himself for his next venture 'Freddy'.
For the first time ever, a celebrity is being lauded for gaining weight.

Kartik Aaryan who sported a lean and gaunt look for the role of ‘Rooh Baba’ in the horror-comedy ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ will be seen in a chubbier avatar for his next movie ‘Freddy’. The actor reportedly gained 14 kgs for the new role.

Celebrity fitness trainer Samir Jaura who helped Aaryan through the body transformation is all praise for the ‘Pyar Ka Punchnama’ star. In an interview with a leading English daily, Jaura revealed that Aaryan who is genetically lean, went the extra mile to pile on the kilos! “Kartik is someone with a genetically lean body. So, when he was required to gain around 14 kilos for Freddy, we knew it was going to be a task. But, his dedication is next level! He was able to achieve the look well in time, following disciplined routine workouts and the right diet plan. Putting on kilos requires a well-supervised process, because it is not just simply the shredding of muscles or getting ripped. He has done a fantastic job and the look came perfectly for the film, ” he was quoted as saying to the English daily.

The ‘ Pati Patni Aur Woh’ star revealed that he had been so excited about his role, that he had no time to be worried about the fact that he had to gain weight. “Freddy has been one of the most interesting and surprising scripts that I have ever read. When I saw that I would also be required to gain weight for the role, among other preparations, I just wasn’t able to worry at that moment because I was so excited to play this character. And it was quite difficult, trying to put on so much weight altogether. But, under Samir’s training, we achieved the goal in time, and gladly, the entire team loved the final look,” revealed the actor. The movie will premiere on Disney+Hotstar next month (December 2).

It is heartening to see someone being praised for gaining weight (for once). Like most showbiz, body-shaming is pretty rampant in Bollywood. Stars like Vidya Balan and Sonakshi Sinha had previously opened up about being fat-shamed. Parineeti Chopra took a career sabbatical just to shed weight.

Just like he ended the BO dry spell with the blockbuster ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ here’s hoping Aaryan would also end the stigma against chubbier body types in the tinsel town.
