Veteran actor Nana Patekar passed away on Thursday morning, October 8, at his residence in Goa after suffering a cardiac arrest. He was 75 years old. His son, Malhar Patekar, confirmed the news to local media. Nana was found unconscious at his home and was later rushed to Manipal Hospital. His sudden death has left the film industry shocked and speechless.

As tributes continue to pour in, an old video of Nana from the Housefull 5 trailer launch has resurfaced on social media. The clip features the veteran actor sharing the stage with Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh and other members of the film’s cast. In the video, Nana’s candid response to an English question leaves the audience in splits.

Nana Patekar’s 'Hindi mein bol' old moment goes viral

The viral clip is from a public event where a reporter appears to ask a question in English. Nana, known for his straightforward personality, interrupts and asks the reporter to speak in Hindi.


He can be heard saying, “Hindi mein bol, Angrezi nahi aati,” which roughly translates to, "Speak in Hindi, I don’t know English."



His quick response immediately gets a reaction from the audience, with people bursting into laughter and applauding. The other members of the Housefull 5 team can also be seen on stage during the exchange.

The video has resurfaced after Nana’s death and is once again being widely shared online. Many social media users are remembering the actor through such candid moments.

Nana Patekar dies at 75

Nana Patekar passed away on October 8 at the age of 75 after suffering a cardiac arrest. According to doctors at Manipal Hospital, the actor had complained of discomfort and restlessness during the early hours of the morning.

Dr Shekhar Salkar, chief of the oncology department at Manipal Hospital, said Nana had messaged a friend at around 2.30 am about not feeling well. However, the friend reportedly did not see the message immediately because it was late at night.

By the time the friend reached Nana’s residence, the actor was reportedly unresponsive. Medical personnel were called and CPR was started at the house before he was shifted to the hospital.

Doctors continued resuscitation efforts for nearly 45 minutes, but Nana could not be revived. He was declared dead at around 5.20 am.

Nana Patekar’s death has triggered an outpouring of tributes from the film industry. Known for films such as Parinda, Krantiveer, Prahar, Khamoshi, Ab Tak Chhappan and Welcome, the actor leaves behind a career spanning Hindi and Marathi cinema.
