High-risk alert for Google Chrome Users by the Govt: CERT issues warning

Users who store passwords, financial details, and personal information in Chrome are particularly vulnerable to identity theft and fraud if the issue is not fixed by updating the browser. It’s strongly recommended that Chrome be updated immediately.
Who Is Under Threat?
The critical vulnerabilities identified by CERT-In affect users running outdated versions of Google Chrome on desktop platforms. Specifically, the impacted versions are:- Google Chrome versions earlier than 133.0.0043.59/.99 for Windows and Mac
- Google Chrome versions earlier than 133.0.6943.98 for Linux
- If you're using any of these outdated versions, your system is at high risk of cyberattacks. This threat extends to end-user organizations, businesses, and individuals who rely on Google Chrome for web browsing.
What Can You Do?
CERT-In and Google are urging users to update their browsers immediately to the latest stable version to address these security vulnerabilities. To protect your system, follow these steps:- Open Google Chrome on your computer.
- Click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner of the browser.
- Go to Help > About Google Chrome.
- Chrome will automatically check for updates and install the latest version.
- Restart the browser to apply the updates.
