Remember the ‘Flatgate’ controversy from Cannes last year?

OH YES! THE NO HEELS, NO ENTRY FUSS. WHAT DID JULIA DO NOW?

Well, she defied all rules and walked the red carpet all smiles and barefoot.

BAREFOOT? ISN'T THAT A BLATANT DISREGARD FOR THE CANNES RULES?

But don’t you think that's one way to rebel against the festival's strict dress code, especially after last year’s debacle where a group of women in their 50s were shoved away for not wearing high heels?

WELL, GUESS IT DOES.

Of course, it does. Actor Kirsten Stewart also spoke against the unequal wardrobe guidelines at the festival. “Things have to change immediately. It has become really obvious that if (a man and I) were walking the red carpet together and someone stopped me and said, ‘Excuse me, you’re not wearing heels. You cannot come in.’ Then (I’m going to say), ‘Neither is my friend. Does he have to wear heels?’

THAT MAKES SENSE.

Absolutely. Recently, a woman who was a temporary worker at Portico, PwC's outsourced reception firm in UK, was fired for refusing to wear heels.

FIRED FOR NOT WEARING HEELS?

Yes. In a similar case, a waitress in Canada shared a disturbing picture of her bloodied feet after working an eight-hour shift in high heels. It sparked an outrage over the company’s sexist dress code requirement. THAT’S BRUTAL. Crazy, right? Coco Chanel once said: 'Keep your head, heels and standards high.' I wonder how she would have reacted now!
