Akshay Kumar issues public notice on Hera Pheri 3
The long-running uncertainty around Hera Pheri 3 has taken another turn. Akshay Kumar's production house, Cape of Good Films LLP, has issued a public notice claiming that it is the sole and exclusive holder of the rights to produce and commercially exploit the much-awaited comedy film. The notice appeared in the July 4, 2026 edition of trade publication Complete Cinema and comes at a time when the project continues to face legal and production-related issues.

According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, a screenshot of the notice was first shared by one of Akshay Kumar's fan clubs before it gained wider attention online.

Production house claims sole ownership of rights

The notice has been addressed not only to the general public but also to stakeholders across the film business, including distributors, exhibitors, cinema chains, OTT platforms, television broadcasters, advertisers, licensors, aggregators, syndicators and other industry members.

The notice reads, “Notice is hereby given to the public at large, and to the Indian film trade in particular, including without limitation all distributors, exhibitors, cinema chains, OTT and streaming platforms, television broadcasters, digital platforms, advertisers, licensors, licensees, aggregators, syndicators, and all other persons and entities concerned, that Cape of Good Films LLP is the sole and exclusive holder of an irrevocable, worldwide, perpetual, and unencumbered licence to produce, distribute, market, exploit, commercialise, and otherwise deal with the cinematograph film presently titled 'Hera Pheri 3' ('the Film'), together with all rights therein, across all modes, media, platforms, technologies, and formats, whether now known or hereafter devised.”

The company further stated, “All persons and entities are hereby called upon to recognise and respect the aforementioned rights of Cape of Good Films LLP and are further cautioned against entering into any arrangement, transaction, negotiation, representation, or dealing with any third-party claiming rights in or relating to the Film without the prior written authorisation of Cape of Good Films LLP.”

The notice also carried a legal warning that said, “Any person acting contrary to this notice shall do so entirely at their own risk, and Cape of Good Films LLP reserves all rights and remedies available in law and equity.”

Film continues to face hurdles

The latest development comes as Hera Pheri 3 remains caught in controversy. The film was expected to reunite Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal, with Priyadarshan returning as director. However, the project has seen several setbacks over the past year. Paresh Rawal had briefly exited the film in May 2025 before later returning, while legal disputes around the project have continued.

More recently, Priyadarshan announced that he was stepping away from directing the film. Speaking to Mid-Day, he also accused producer Firoz Nadiadwala of repeatedly insulting him during their association.

For now, the public notice has added another chapter to the ongoing Hera Pheri 3 rights dispute, while the future of the film remains uncertain.
