Hello, Mika! Polish alc-bev firm Dictador hires AI CEO to lead its ops, robot says she has 'no weekends'

Truth can sometimes be stranger than fiction. After AI TV anchors, and chatbots drafting work mail, the days of an AI CEO are not very far!

Yes, you read that right.

In what could be called the world's first such move, a Polish alco-beverage company earlier this year announced that it has appointed an AI-powered humanoid robot to lead the firm. Dictador announced that it will engage the services of 'Mika' to steer its operations.


Mika is the result of a collaboration between Dictador and Hanson Robotics which is a Hong Kong-based engineering and robotics company, known for its development of human-like robots with AI for consumer, entertainment, service, healthcare, and research applications. Hanson earlier hit headlines in 2016 with the famed humanoid Sophia, who once said that she will "destroy humans.".

"I don't really have weekends — I'm always on 24/7, ready to make executive decisions and stir up some AI magic," Mika told Reuters in a "video interview" at the time it was uneviled.


Recently Fox Business reporter Lauren Simonetti interviewed Mika over a video call. And to her surprise, she found that there was a "significant delay" in the time it takes for the robot to actually respond.

In a Dictador company video, Mika said that "with advanced artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms, I can swiftly and accurately make data driven."

"My decision-making process relies on extensive data analysis and aligning with the company's strategic objectives," it said.

Mika added that it is devoid of personal bias, ensuring strategic choices that prioritise the organisation's best interests.

Meanwhile Hanson CEO David Hanson stressed on the importance of "humanising" artificial intelligence.

"I feel very strongly that we need to teach A.I. to care about people for A.I. to be really safe, to be really, really good. I think humanizing that is a very important direction," Hanson was quoted as saying in an interview to Fox Business.
