Tumbbad is in the news again as the much anticipated sequel is being headlined by Alia Bhatt. Along with this news, producer Soham Shah’s journey of how he almost became bankrupt and persevered for seven years to make the highly-acclaimed horror ...

In a chat with the PTI in 2018, Shah said it took precisely seven years to make Tumbbad and he had to sell off his property to make the movie.

I know that even if I'm not here, 'Tumbbad' will continue to live on. It's great that we are talking about it even after six years. I believe people will talk about it even more in 10 years from now. I'm from real estate and 'Tumbbad' has been a good investment,"
The movie was made on a budget of Rs 10 crore and gained Rs 15 crore during it’s initial release. It earned an impressive Rs 38 crore on it’s re-release in 2024.
