Speaking at the prayer meeting, Shivaji Satam remembered how he struggled to balance work with his wife’s treatment. He was shooting for Ghulam-E-Musthafa when she was diagnosed with cancer, leaving him extremely tense and worried. Nana noticed that something was wrong and urged him to explain what had happened. When Shivaji admitted that he might not be able to continue shooting, the veteran actor insisted on knowing the reason behind his distress. After hearing about his wife’s diagnosis, Nana asked him to remain patient for a day while he worked out a solution.

How Nana Patekar helped adjust the film’s shooting schedule

Shivaji revealed that Partho Ghosh, who directed Ghulam-E-Musthafa, agreed to change the shooting schedule after Nana intervened. The film also featured Aruna Irani, Nana Patekar and Shivaji Satam. Nana spoke to Partho and informed the filmmakers that Shivaji needed to visit the hospital every morning and evening. The director accommodated the arrangement, allowing Shivaji to arrive on set at noon and leave by 8 pm.

The actor said the support extended beyond the schedule change. Nana also informed Aruna Irani about his wife’s cancer diagnosis and the challenges the family was facing. According to Shivaji, the entire team took care of both him and his wife during that difficult period.

The postmortem report listed the cause of death as “acute myocardial infarction due to left main coronary artery thrombosis secondary to atherosclerotic occlusive coronary artery disease”, classifying it as a natural death.

Nana was rushed to a private hospital from his home in Dona Paula, near Panaji, in the early hours of October 8. Known for his earthy performances across genres, the veteran actor appeared in films including Krantiveer and Khamoshi: The Musical.
