He landed a job with 30% salary hike, then got the biggest shock of his life, just 3 months later: ' Around 15% of the company....'
A marketing professional shared on Reddit how a 30% salary hike led to job loss just three months after relocating for a new role. Despite excelling and receiving positive feedback, a company-wide restructuring resulted in his position being elimi...

The professional explained that he had moved to a different location to accept the opportunity and made every effort to settle into his responsibilities without delay. Since the business operated in an industry that was entirely unfamiliar to him, adapting to the new environment required time and effort. Despite the initial adjustment period, he gradually became involved in several important content projects and was even given the freedom to influence the direction of future initiatives.
According to him, the workplace culture appeared encouraging and welcoming. Colleagues were cooperative, management showed confidence in his work, and nothing suggested that his position was under threat. He believed he was building a stable future with the organisation and had every reason to expect continued growth.
However, the situation changed abruptly when the company announced a large-scale organisational overhaul. As part of the restructuring exercise, nearly 15 percent of the workforce was dismissed, and his role was among those eliminated. Information circulating within the organisation suggested that this was the biggest round of layoffs the company had ever carried out.
The downsizing affected employees across multiple departments rather than targeting a single team. Professionals at every stage of their careers were impacted, including senior software engineers, newly recruited graduates from prestigious institutions, seasoned experts with years of experience, and several highly capable employees. The job cuts were widespread and unrelated to the abilities or performance of those who lost their positions.
As a result, the marketing professional has once again begun searching for employment. While preparing for another job hunt, he admitted that one aspect of his career history concerns him the most. During more than eight years in the workforce, he has been employed by six different organisations, resulting in an average stay of only about one to one-and-a-half years at each company. His most recent employment lasted merely three months, not because of poor performance or professional shortcomings, but solely because the employer undertook a company-wide restructuring that led to extensive layoffs.
