‘He is such a huge superstar yet…’: Actress seen in Netflix series Kohrra 2 shares her experience of working with Mahesh Babu

Kohrra, a gritty Netflix series revolving around a police procedural linked to a series of gruesome murders, returned for its second season on February 11. The show, written and directed by Sudip Sharma, peels back the layers to expose the underbelly of Punjab, riddled with sexism to casteism. Headlined by Barun Sobti and Mona Singh, Kohrra 2 also stars Neeru Sehgal in a key role. Amid the praise coming her way for the portrayal of Lovneen in the series, the actress has shared her journey from pageantry to acting and the time she collaborated with Telugu star Mahesh Babu for an advertisement.

Neeru Sehgal, in a conversation with Hindustan Times, recalled her experience of working with Mahesh Babu back in 2024. She admitted that observing the actor’s commitment to his craft was a turning point in her professional growth.


Calling Mahesh Babu a ‘huge superstar’, Neeru Sehgal revealed that despite his star status, the Sarkaru Vaari Paata actor is a deeply humble person. She admired Mahesh Babu’s discipline on the shooting sets, which was nothing short of inspiring. But apart from that, his warm demeanor ensured that the entire filming schedule was comfortable. Neeru confessed that sharing screen space with Mahesh Babu for the commercial was an insightful experience, especially by noting his focus and discipline.

Neeru Sehgal on Kohrra 2

Neeru Sehgal’s character, Lovleen, in Kohrra 2, is showcased as a woman who is in love with a man named Sam. But Sam is embroiled in the murder case of his wife, Preet Bajwa. Speaking about her audition for the part, Neeru revealed that she reached out to the show’s casting director and received a response from the team soon after. They requested the actress to send an intro of her speaking in Punjabi. She got selected after sending a self-tape.



Neeru Sehgal further talked about how Kohrra touched on heavy and complex themes, which at times felt intense. She, however, acknowledged that her character, Lovneen, was a powerful woman who could face challenging situations with calm and clarity. ‘Playing the role reminded me how important it is to show resilience in chaos,’ said Neeru. On a concluding note, the actress confessed that she was open to working in the South Indian film industry, provided a good story and role came her way.

Kohrra 2 also stars Anuraag Arora, Rannvijay Singha, Muskan Arora, Ekta Sodhi, Pradhuman Singh Mall, Prayrak Mehta, Mandeep Kaur Ghai, and Pooja Bhamrah in important roles.
