Gym owner says he is able to save only Rs 2-3 lakh per month despite earning Rs 20 lakh per month
Not all that glitters is gold. Recently, a gym owner from Faridabad revealed how he barely manages to save anything despite earning Rs 20 lakh per month. Taking to Instagram, Nitesh Yadav from Faridabad revealed in detail how much he earned from his fitness club, Infinity. Taking Rs 20 lakh in earnings per month as an example, Nitesh explained that a huge portion of the expenses goes towards operations and maintenance. Rs 6 to Rs 7 lakh is spent on paying the staff. Monthly rent is Rs 4 lakh, including GST. Electricity bills cost him around Rs 70,000 to Rs 1 lakh. Then there are miscellaneous expenses, which amount to Rs 3 lakh.

The expenses leave him Rs 5 to Rs 6 lakh. However, this is not the amount he gets to take home, sadly.

Yadav revealed he invested Rs 3 crore in launching the gym. This investment requires him to pay over Rs 3 lakh per month in EMIs. This makes him able to save only Rs 2-3 lakh per month.

He explained that buying a building and investing in state-of-the-art equipment is not enough to run a successful gym. It also requires upgrading the machines if he has to stay ahead of competitors.

“So, on average, the savings that I am able to make in this scenario are Rs 5 lakh to Rs 6 lakh. But there are different problems with it as well. For example, the gym that I have invested in is worth Rs 3 crore. Now, the EMI that goes into it is Rs 3 lakh a month. After that, whatever is left, there are other things at home as well,” he said.

He also explained that the real challenge for gym owners is not acquiring new clients but retaining a loyal client base. “Gym business income = membership revenue minus rent, staff salaries, and maintenance. The real profit comes from member retention, not new joining,” he explained.

Following the video's popularity on social media, many users reached out to Yadav with enquiries regarding the funds required to establish the fitness centre. Others were interested in the membership fees and the total number of individuals signed up at the facility.

A user inquired if the stated investment of Rs 3 crore only pertained to the gym equipment or if it also encompassed the building. In response to the question, Yadav clarified that the expenses included fitness equipment, interior renovations, three months of rent in advance, three months of maintenance expenses, and marketing initiatives. He also disclosed that the gym has a monthly rental cost of Rs 3,39,000, plus 18% GST, bringing the total to almost Rs 4 lakh.

A different social media user inquired about the gym's membership numbers and monthly fees. In reply, Yadav revealed that the center now has 700 active members, with each contributing Rs 6,000 monthly.
