There comes a point in our lives when we start to think that love is not meant for us. After a past relationship fails to work out, some people tend to jump into the next relationship so that they do not get lonely and have someone to lean on. On the other hand, others choose to stay single to heal and move on properly, before falling in love again. Although they take their time in choosing the right partner, at times being single for too long can make them sad or question whether they will find the kind of love they truly deserve.

But according to entrepreneur, author and digital creator Ankur Warikoo, staying single for long actually benefits you more than you think. In his latest Instagram post, the 45-year-old listed 3 reasons why people who have been single for a long period of time are better at loving someone and navigating relationship dynamics.

Clarity about what you want

Ankur Warikoo noted that people who have been single for a long time usually have a clear understanding of their expectations in a relationship. Having spent time with themselves, reflecting on what they want and what they do not want with intention, they are more aware of their needs, values, and boundaries, which ultimately helps them make more thoughtful choices in love.

Sense of completeness within

Ankur Warikoo emphasised that long-term single individuals do not rely on a partner to feel complete, because let’s be honest, no one can make you feel whole if you do not make yourself a priority. Being comfortable in one’s own company and nurturing friendships allows these individuals to see a relationship as an addition to their life, rather than something that defines them. So, their lives do not revolve only around one person, aka the love of their lives.

Ability to handle pressure

Finally, Ankur Warikoo pointed out that those who have stayed single for a considerable period are no strangers to societal pressure and constant questioning about their relationship status. But over time, they learn to tune out the noise and nagging by making decisions at their own pace, choosing what feels right for them rather than giving in to external expectations.
