‘Haseen Dilruba’ will be back soon! Know the OTT release date of Taapsee Pannu-Vikrant Massey’s romantic thriller

After three years, the sensual, bewitching, and devious ‘Haseen Dillruba’ is back! ‘Phir Ayi Haseen Dilruba’, the sequel to the 2021 Taapsee Pannu-Vikrant Massey-starrer will be premiering on Netflix this August!

The OTT giant announced that the second installment of the romantic thriller will be released on August 9. Taking to Instagram, Netflix announced, “9 August ki Haseen shaam, Dilruba ke naam, Phir Aayi Haseen Dilruba, is out on August 9, only on Netflix." Some posters were also released.

The first poster showcases the trio with Sunny Kaushal standing in the rain. He gazes at Vikrant Massey and Taapsee Pannu, who are taking shelter under an umbrella to avoid the downpour. Sunny holds a bouquet of roses in one hand and Taapsee's hand in the other, suggesting a romantic involvement. Pannu looked ravishing in her trademark red saree and crimson lips.


“Khoon ko mitaye ye baarish, yahi hain iss kaatilana ishq ki guzaarish. Phir Aayi Haseen Dillruba, coming on 9 August, only on Netflix,” wrote Netflix in the caption.

In the second poster, the actors have shifted positions. This time, Sunny Kaushal is holding the umbrella and the bouquet with Taapsee Pannu beside him, while Vikrant Massey watches them cautiously. Netflix captioned it, “Khoon, Junoon, aur ek khatarnaak monsoon, Phir Aayi Haseen Dillruba, coming on 9 August, only on Netflix.”

According to several reports, Pannu and Massey will reprise their roles of Rani Kashyap, a feisty and lusty housewife, and Rishabh (Rishu) Saxena, her devoted husband. Sunny Kaushal (of ‘Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga’ fame) and Jimmy Shergill will be the new faces in the cast.

The story will pick up from where the first movie left off - with Rani and Rishu escaping to Agra to start a new life. Kaushal will essay on the role of Abhimanyu, a mysterious figure.

All About ‘Haseen Dilruba’

Penned by Kanika Dhillon and directed by Vinil Matthew, ‘Haseen Dilruba’ debuted on Netflix on July 2, 2021, and quickly became one of the most streamed Netflix Originals of all time. The story grabbed eyeballs for its fresh spin on marital infidelity.

The story revolves around Rani, a fiery small-town girl who enters into an arranged marriage with a seemingly sedate and timid Rishabh. While the two make several attempts to consummate their marriage, they fail. Eventually, a bored Rani enters into an extramarital affair with her husband’s cousin Neel. However, this affair doesn’t last long as the freewheeling Neel refuses to commit to her.

Devastated, Rani comes clean to her husband. While he feels shattered at first, their relationship gradually takes a turn for the better much to the audience’s shock. But their newfound marital blessing gets cut short as they inadvertently end up committing a murder.
