However, in a recent interview with SCREEN, R. Madhavan revealed he hasn’t heard any scripts for the sequel and hinted at the possibility of being replaced in the film.

Addressing earlier rumors that Kangana Ranaut would play a triple role in the third film, Madhavan stated, “As much as I would like to talk about it, I really have no idea. It’s all been on Instagram.” He further elaborated, “The media and people are asking me these questions. Neither Aanand nor anyone else has spoken to me about part three. I have no clue about the script. Maybe I’m not in it. Maybe they’ve replaced me. I genuinely don’t know.”

Meanwhile, a report from Pinkvilla last year suggested that Tanu Weds Manu 3 would seamlessly continue from where the previous films concluded. According to a source, the upcoming film will be a true sequel, maintaining the essence of humor, romance, and drama that defined the franchise. “The basic concept is finalized, and the plan is to begin shooting in the latter half of 2025,” the source revealed.


The insider also mentioned Kangana Ranaut’s unique challenge in portraying a triple role for the first time in her career. “Kangana is excited about taking on three distinct characters and is eagerly waiting for a complete narration from Aanand L Rai. It’s an exciting opportunity for her to explore new facets of her performance,” they added. In an earlier interview with News18 Showsha, Aanand L Rai confirmed his intentions to continue the franchise, emphasizing the significance of its characters. “Tanu Weds Manu is a franchise that naturally demands a part three. The characters played so beautifully by Madhavan and Kangana have become larger than the story itself,” he shared.

He also hinted at introducing fresh elements, much like Datto in the second film, while staying true to the original narrative. “These characters deserve a great story. Once we have a narrative that Tanu, Manu, and Datto deserve, we’ll move forward with it,” Rai concluded.
