Hardik Pandya breaks his silence on ‘Koffee With Karan’ controversy, says his family was abused after chat show

The ace cricketer recalled the nightmare that his family had to undergo after the controversy.

Opening up about the incident, Pandya said that he is the sort of person who corrects his mistakes and makes sure he doesn’t repeat them again.
Hardik Pandya, the promising Indian cricketing talent, who made his debut in International Cricket in 2016 at the young age of 22, has had a journey full of ups and downs. In Pandya, the Men in Blue found an all-rounder whose batting and bowling prowess are unparalleled. However, the Surat-born cricketer did encounter a few roadblocks in his journey to success.

In a no-holds-barred interview with cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle, Pandya had a candid conversation about the 2019 World Cup, his relationship with Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni and his family life. He also addressed the infamous ‘Koffee With Karan’ controversy which got him and his fellow cricketer KL Rahul suspended for their misogynistic comments on the chat show.

Opening up about the incident, Pandya said that he is the sort of person who corrects his mistakes and makes sure he doesn’t repeat them again.

“When that happened, I said to myself let's just accept it and try to correct the mistake. If I would've not accepted that mistake, that part would have still been in me. That phase does not bother me any more because my family has accepted it,” he said.

Pandya had rendered an apology after receiving backlash on social media in 2019, however, the BCCI (Board of Cricket Control in India) put him and KL Rahul on provisional suspension anyway.

Calling himself a ‘family guy’, Pandya added that there were people ‘behind the scenes’ who were looking after him and called his family his ‘backbone’.

“I'm a family guy. Without family, I am no one. My family is my backbone. The Hardik Pandya you're seeing right now is because of the people behind the scenes, looking after me. They make sure that I am mentally stable and I stay happy,” he explained.

Talking about the aftermath of the incident, Pandya said that his family was abused and that hurt him the most. “My family got abused. My father gave an interview post the incident and people made a mockery of it. What hurt me the most was that my action caused my family problems, and that's not acceptable,” said Pandya.

The ace cricketer, who is now set to extend his family, recently took to Instagram to announce his fiancee Natasa Stankovic’s pregnancy.
