Yoga, an ancient Indian workout form, has gained immense popularity globally. This exercise is known to improve overall health, from physical fitness to mental well-being. B-Town celebrities too, swear by this workout form and often share glimpses from their regimen with fans. Some of these celebrities, today, took to social media to share glimpses of their Yoga Day celebrations and encouraged fans to do the same. Actresses Bipasha Basu, Urmila Matondkar and Twinkle Khanna, along with actor Anupam Kher, talked about the benefits of Yoga through their posts.
Matondkar, who recently contested the Lok Sabha elections on a Congress ticket from Mumbai North constituency, shared a picture while practising yoga by a river.
Kher, on Instagram, wished his fans with a message and series of pictures while practising yoga. He wrote, "Happy International Yoga Day to you all. “Let your whole body breathe.” Says my yoga teacher #ManglaDuggalJi."
Actress Shilpa Shetty-Kundra, a yoga enthusiast, gathered a huge crowd at the Gateway of India in Mumbai to perform yoga. She thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his efforts to encourage the youth to practise yoga regularly.
The idea of International Yoga Day was first proposed by PM Modi during a speech in the United Nations General Assembly in September 2014. The first Yoga Day was celebrated on June 21, 2015. PM Modi was accompanied by 30,000 people at Rajpath, New Delhi, to practise yoga.
The fifth Yoga Day follows the theme 'Climate Action'.
