Happy Raj OTT release date and platform update: Where and when to watch G. V. Prakash Kumar's Tamil comedy-drama

The Tamil romantic comedy-drama Happy Raj, starring G. V. Prakash Kumar, was released in theatres on March 27, 2026. The film opened with a light family-focused story and quickly drew attention for its mix of humour and emotional conflict within a family setup. Directed by debutant Maria Raja Elanchezian, the film also brings actor Abbas back to the big screen after a gap, which has been one of the talking points since release. Story in brief

The story follows Anandh Raj, who is also called Happy. On the surface, he looks like someone who has a smooth and settled life, but his personal relationships are affected because of his father Kathamuthu’s unusual and eccentric image in society.

Even though Kathamuthu does not seem bothered by how others see him, Happy carries the pressure of judgment and awkward social situations. Things change when he meets Kavya, who accepts him fully and even embraces his father without hesitation.

However, once both families come together, the situation becomes complicated. Differences in thinking and small misunderstandings slowly build up, leading to a mix of emotional and comedic situations that form the core of the film.

The film’s music is composed by Justin Prabhakaran, while Madhan Christopher has handled cinematography. Editing is done by Selva RK. Production is backed by Beyond Pictures, with Jaivarda as producer and Jaikanth Suresh as co-producer.

The technical team has been noted as a standard mid-range setup, focusing more on storytelling and character interaction rather than heavy visuals or action elements.
