Ken Urker: Who Was Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s Partner, and How Did Their Love Story Begin?

Gypsy Rose Blanchard, the woman who once hit headlines for the murder of her mother, Clauddine "Dee Dee" Blanchard, in 2015, has now suffered a big personal loss. Her partner Ken Urker passed away at 34. According to a report by PEOPLE magazine, Urker was found unresponsive on October 1, his birthday. He was found by a Gypsy’s brother, Dyland, and his wife inside his Louisiana home. Ken’s sister Autumn confirmed his death through a TikTok video and said his last words to her were “I love you.”

Blanchard and Urker are parents to a daughter, Aurora Raina Urker, who was born in December 2024.

The pair began their relationship while Blanchard was serving a prison sentence for the murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard. Urker proposed in October 2018, but the couple later ended their engagement temporarily before getting back together in August 2019.

Their relationship eventually ended again, and the two remained apart for several years. During that period, Blanchard married Ryan Anderson, though their marriage later broke down. Blanchard and Urker eventually rekindled their relationship in April 2024. Urker later spoke to PEOPLE about how the pair reconnected and eventually found their way back to one another.

In a chat with PEOPLE, Ken died of overdose. However, she was not sure if it was “intentional or not".

“He was not in a good state of mind lately,” she revealed. She also described Ken as her soulmate and an amazing father and a man who was loved by all. She also claimed he was subjected to a huge deal of scrutiny over their relationship and faced cyberbullying on social media, which may have impacted his mental wellbeing.

Later, she told TMZ that an unidentified substance was found where he was found, though she could not identify what it was.

“I believe the tremendous weight of that scrutiny and harassment had a profound impact on him, and I hope his passing serves as a reminder that there is a real person behind every screen, every headline, and every comment,” she said.

In a 2019 interview with E! News, Blanchard shared that Urker reached out to her after watching the HBO documentary *Mommy Dead and Dearest*, which explored her childhood and the abuse she said she experienced at the hands of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard.

Blanchard explained that Urker initially sent her a supportive letter, which marked the beginning of their regular correspondence. The two began exchanging messages every week and quickly developed a close friendship. Their communication soon moved from letters to phone calls, with the pair spending several hours speaking to each other. Blanchard recalled that their conversations felt remarkably natural, as though they had known one another for years, and she felt the same familiarity was shared by Urker.

Urker also came from a really big family and was one of five sons.

Bhanchard came into prominence when she was accused of murdering her mother, Dee Dee. She had conspired with her then boyfriend to stab her mother in their Missouri home. As per reports, Blanchard was subjected to child abuse – she was forced to pretend to be terminally ill and disabled.

Dee Dee frequently shaved Blanchard’s head, reportedly explaining that her medication would eventually lead to hair loss and that removing her hair beforehand would therefore be easier. To conceal her shaved head, Blanchard commonly used wigs and hats. Whenever the mother and daughter went outside, Dee Dee would often bring medical equipment such as an oxygen cylinder and a feeding tube. Blanchard was also given PediaSure, a liquid nutritional drink typically intended for children, even after she became an adult.

Gypsy was released on parole in December 2023, after eight and a half years of being behind bars.
