Guvera launches 'University Stream Off' contest across India

NEW DELHI: Australia-based music streaming service Guvera has announced the launch of the ' University Stream Off' contest across India. The music streaming competition being held across some educational institutions in the country and will feature the shortlisted universities battling it out to rank as the top five institutions tuning into the new global trend of music streaming.

As part of the contest, each participating university has been assigned a special playlist hosted on Guvera, under the channel ‘University Stream Off’. The contest will begin in the first week of September and will crown five universities as winners, basis the most streamed playlists through the months. Winners of the contest will be eligible towards a significant sponsorship offering from Guvera towards their annual festival, and other gratifications.

Ananya Amin, head of business development, Asia said their initiative comes in as a fresh approach of getting consumers to sample this latest trend in media consumption that is taking the global market by storm. "The ‘stream off’ is an opportunity that brings us to the forefront in bridging a direct cross level engagement with our consumers.”

She adds that Guvera has seen a significant growth in user base, breaking the five million mark since its launch in 2014. Amin added that the present growth in smartphone penetration coupled with improving infrastructure and availability of data services should catapult India onto the global podium of major music streaming markets.
