There’s a misconception about retirement. People think that it is like a long, quiet Sunday that never seems to end. But retirement isn’t about empty calendars, fading routines, and a slow drift into boredom. It’s the first time in decades that your day isn’t dictated by deadlines or alarm clocks, and you have your own free will to do anything that you want. With a similar, positive outlook on life, a couple from Gurugram, Radha and Surendra, took their retirement as an opportunity to travel the world. Their inspiring journey was recently highlighted by their daughter, Yuvika.

Retired couple travels the world

In an Instagram post, Yuvika Abrol, who is a content creator herself, revealed how her parents decided to follow their passion for travelling and explore different places in India and overseas after dedicating 40 years to their corporate life. The duo even run an Instagram page of their own titled seniorjeepsies, where they document all of their sojourns.

As per the video, Radha and Surendra have undertaken multiple road trips in India, covering almost all locations like Kargil, Kanyakumari, Ladakh, and Spiti. But what sets their journeys apart is that the couple do no merely travel like tourists on a vacation. They travel like ‘gypsies’, moving from one place to another, creating stories, making new friends across all age groups and simply experiencing each place as authentically as possible.

Unique travelling philosophy

The couple hits the road in their car and carries all the essentials required for their adventurous trips, which include utensils and a gas cylinder. If there are no food stalls or dhabas, they make simple meals like Maggi themselves in remote locations, either by the roadside or in the middle of the mountains. What’s more, every winter, they live in the sunny tropical island of Goa for 3 months, like residents, relaxing and soaking in the serenity before returning home.

Yuvika Abrol revealed that whenever she happens to meet her parents, they have loads and loads of interesting travel stories to share, inspiring not just her but also her friends to live life to the fullest, without compromise. As per Yuvika, travelling has also helped her parents widen their perspective on everything, which they impart to everyone they meet. Their motto? Life does not always end after retirement. It paves the way for the second innings, almost like turning a fresh chapter. All you have to do is and go and grab it.
