On Wednesdays, we wear pink: Gurudev Ahluwalia on how to look dapper in office
The Director of KTC India, Gurudev Ahluwalia, in an interview with ET Panache, shared his favourite colour combinations and tips for looking dapper at work. The top boss also revealed his favourites for smart business casuals.

Go-to style

“I prefer smart business casuals. I feel more free in them. My favourite colour combination is pink and grey. I love pink shirts and grey complements that.”

Making an impression

“My first suit was a tailormade, one which I wore for a wedding. The first time I felt I looked good in one was at my graduation. The pride from finishing my course and looking good merged together.”

Best memory

This was when my company won the National Tourism Award for the first time. I wore my finest suit to receive it.

Point of source

I always have Zegna or Diwan Saheb make my suits. Their quality and attention to detail is unmatched. One thing to remember when choosing a suit is how you would colour coordinate the shirt and suit. For special occasions, I use either my car cufflinks, the ones that have my initials, or my eight ball ones. Your cufflinks and belt should go hand-in-hand with your tie.

Suit care

I always pack my suits and hang them straight. I also dry clean them after two wears.

Favourite piece

A charcoal grey suit from Zegna. The material is light. My most experimental suit is a beige coloured one.

You can never go wrong with…

A black or grey suit. Both these colours are standard when it comes to men’s suits.

Wearing a suit makes me feel

Confident. The way you dress can influence the way you feel about yourself.
