Imagine leaving behind a bag worth Rs 2 lakh in a cab and realising it only after the vehicle has driven away. That’s exactly what happened to a Gurgaon woman, who shared her nerve-wracking yet heartwarming experience on Reddit. What began as sheer panic quickly turned into relief when the cab driver’s honesty restored her faith in humanity.

The woman wrote that she was on her way to college with two bags—her own and a laptop sleeve she had borrowed from a friend. Inside was her friend’s MacBook, which she had to return that day. After reaching campus and heading to the canteen, her friend casually asked where the laptop was. That’s when her heart sank—she had left it inside the cab.

She tried calling the driver twice but got no response and almost resigned herself to the loss. Rushing back to the gate with her friend, she was stunned to see the driver already there, holding the laptop bag and speaking with the security guards. The overwhelming calm she felt in that moment, she said, was unforgettable. The cabbie explained that he had returned on his own to hand over the bag but was stopped by the guards at the entrance.

Out of gratitude, she offered him Rs 500, but he politely declined, telling her she reminded him of his own child. For her, the incident was proof that humanity is still alive.

The story quickly caught attention online, with many users responding. Some pointed out that her friend would probably think twice before lending a laptop again, while others recalled similar close calls where they had misplaced valuable belongings during travel but were lucky enough to get them back. A few joked that she was incredibly fortunate and shouldn’t risk carrying anyone else’s things in the future. She agreed, admitting that her clumsiness had taught her a lesson.
