'Gully Boy' mints Rs 18.70 cr on first day, becomes 2019's biggest opener

Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela was a modern adaptation of ‘Romeo and Juliet’ by William Shakespeare, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. This movie featured Singh and Padukone in lead roles. It was on the sets of this movie where cupid reportedly struck, and their love story started to bloom.

The movie, set in Gujarat, was the tale of Ram (Ranveer) and Leela (Deepika) who belonged to rival families. A powerful representation of love, lust and drama, this movie earned 8 Filmfare nominations and was a big hit at the box office as well.

Another magical production of Bhansali, Bajirao Mastani brought Ranveer-Deepika together on screen again. An epic romance, this was the story of the Maratha general Bajirao (Singh) and the princess of Bundelkhand Mastani (Padukone).

Bajirao, who is already married to Kashibai (Priyanka Chopra) is looked-up to for his skills as a warrior. However, when he marries Mastani, the opinion of people in his kingdom begins to change. Mastani, too, is subject to disregard from the Marathas.

The movie, which was a large-scale production, received a good response from critics and was a big hit on box office as well. Be it the grandeur of sets and costumes or the brilliant acting skills of every character, ‘Bajirao Mastani’ was a movie to remember.
