Earlier this week, the Rajya Sabha passed the Goods and Services Tax Bill, to replace a bunch of different state and local taxes with a single unified value added tax system.

This comes as a huge step forward on the road to reform as GST becomes the country's most comprehensive tax change since Independence.

From India Inc. to civil society, there was much praise for the bold move. Bollywood, too, congratulated the Government on this new tax measure. Here is what some members of the fraternity had to say:

Calling the move an "awesome advancement" for the country, Shah Rukh Khan tweeted, "Notwithstanding my limited knowledge of Financial stuff, the #GSTBill is an awesome advancement for our country's potential. Congrats to us."
"#GSTBill is a brave revolutionary step. The most significant economic reform since 1992. Woot!" posted Ayushmann Khurrana.
Director Kunal Kohli wrote, "#GST finally! A welcome move."
Meanwhile, mega-star Amitabh Bachchan tweeted he has no clue about the bill.
