GST stands for 'Godrej Started Today', jokes Adi Gogrej

Last week, the Godrej Group celebrated its 119th birthday. Adi Godrej, chairman of the group, and eldest daughter, Tanya Dubash, ED and chief brand officer marked the occasion by cutting a cake and meeting the press.

The assembled media, however, could not let the opportunity pass to get Godrej's take on Prime Minister Narendra Modi government's first year in office. In response, he quipped that the passage of Goods and Services Tax ( GST) the previous day was a good move. Immediately, in an almost swapping of roles, Dubash leaned in indulgently like a parent egging a shy child on.

She asked her father, "And what does it (GST) stand for today?" Godrej chuckled a bit before he shared the in joke, "Godrej Started Today.".
