Green therapy: For Rajesh Shah gardening is the favourite pass time
Rajesh Shah’s day job as the co-chairman & MD of Mukand Ltd and his passion project, his kabbadi team Patna Pirates, keep him sufficiently occupied. But he enjoys his downtime, tending to the gardens at his residence in suburban Mumbai.

“Whenever I get some time, I like to spend it taking care of the garden, designing it, making a few changes every now and then,” he says, showing us a favourite part of the garden. He likes to call it “managed wildness”. Complementing this zen space are facades of old houses, representing architectural styles of Gujarat, Maharashtra and Kerala.

There are also the trees, which have been transplanted from an old factory site in the city. When the company sold off the land a few years back, Shah worried about the many trees. He was sure that the new buyers would chop them down. So he tried to bring as many of them as he could home. Some, as old as 60 years, now stand tall in his backyard a growth story that must make him proud every day.
