The ecological impact of ethical sourcing of products, right from production to disposal, is increasingly influencing the consumption pattern and purchase decisions of people across societies and demographics.
The pandemic boosted the growth of the nutritional and health supplements market in India with an increased percentage of customers now looking at these supplements as a necessity.

With times still being uncertain and speculations around the third wave, the demand is still seeing a steady rise.

"With purchase patterns showing an increase in demand around the festive season, it seems safe to assume that these products are also being looked at as gifting options by many," says Ankur Dayal, CEO and Co-founder at Primarc Pecan.

New Trend
Preventive healthcare is now gradually coming into the light with more and more healthcare professionals educating people about the importance of nutritional supplements, to over 40 per cent cumulative increase in health supplements purchase on leading marketplaces as per data available from our portfolio in the category.

"Consumers are now looking at purchases ranging from protein supplements to multivitamins online, with trends special peaking around offer days. We saw an astonishing 20 per cent rise in orders from outside metro 1 cities with overall order volume coming close to the top 5 metros in 2021. We see a clear increase in penetration in these new markets with a steep increase in orders from tier 2,3 cities," Dayal shares.

Sales Rise
With digital marketing and social media helping more and more brands reach customers beyond the metros, we see newer possibilities opening up for the category.

Narendra Firodia, Co-founder of YouCare Lifestyle agrees as he says, "Having realised that our health and environmental health are entwined, this festive season is seeing an upward trend in a clean approach to lifestyle with green, sustainable and ethical gifting. Today, as we stand socially distanced, the bond we share with our loved ones seems closer than ever. The rise in conscious consumerism has led to an evolved gifting choice among contemporary consumers. They have become mindful of the impact their purchases can make on society and the planet. This shift towards green and planet-friendly gift products is a positive sign and shows that we are at the threshold of a much-needed transformation."

An organic, natural, and healthy lifestyle has become the new norm. The ecological impact of ethical sourcing of products from production to its disposal is increasingly influencing the consumption pattern and purchase decisions of people across societies and demographics. In the ongoing pandemic, individual and family health stood as a primary focus for everyone.

"Nowadays, the conscious end-users are more mindful, which has led to a preference for a holistic and sustainable lifestyle i.e., right from food to personal care. Be it Millennials, Gen-Xers, Baby Boomers, or the Silent generation, everyone irrespective of their age is emphasizing the need to be healthy through eco-friendly buying. Their gifting choices, this festive season, have also evolved as they have now shifted towards label brands dedicated to raising the bar in terms of a clean and sustainable approach to lifestyle," he adds.
