Manoj Bajpayee's political drama Governor: The Silent Saviour has finally made its way to OTT after its theatrical run. Released in cinemas on June 12, 2026, the film received mixed reviews from audiences and critics. While opinions on the overall film were divided, Manoj Bajpayee's performance earned widespread praise, making it one of the biggest talking points after the release.

Streaming details of Manoj Bajpayee's Governor

Governor: The Silent Saviour is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video. However, the film is not available as part of the regular Prime membership. Even subscribers will have to pay Rs. 349 to rent the movie before they can watch it.

The film tells the story of a quiet yet determined Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor who finds himself at the centre of one of the country's biggest economic crises.

Set during India's historic 1991 balance-of-payments crisis, the political drama follows the Governor as he takes difficult decisions to prevent the nation from slipping into bankruptcy. Rather than relying on action sequences or commercial twists, the film focuses on policymaking, leadership and the difficult choices that shaped India's economic future.

The narrative takes a fact-based approach, highlighting the pressures of governance during a financial emergency. It presents a slow-paced but thoughtful story centred on economic reforms and public service instead of conventional political drama.

Many appreciated the actor for portraying a calm and composed leader facing immense pressure during a defining moment in India's economic history. His restrained performance was often highlighted as the biggest reason to watch the film, even by reviewers who had mixed opinions about the screenplay and pacing.

Governor: The Silent Saviour arrived in theatres during a crowded release window, facing competition from several major films.
