US-based technology behemoth Alphabet Inc recently announced a slew of features focused on India – including Search, Android, and AI - at its Google for India event. We list a few that may soon arrive here.
Multi-search This feature helps users search simultaneously with images and text. One needs to open the camera in the Google app to take a picture or use a screenshot and add text to the query. The feature will roll out early next year and will be available in Hindi as well as other regional languages.
DigiLocker docs on Android Google is partnering with the National eGovernance Division to integrate DigiLocker documents. Users who have their Aadhaar, PAN card, and other documents in the DigiLocker app will be able to store them directly in the Files app on Android smartphones. There is no word yet on when the feature will reach users.
Courses on YouTube Google is making an ed-tech play with YouTube Courses. A small group of certified creators will be allowed to put free or paid courses on their YouTube channels. They can upload PDFs, images and more in their videos and will also be given an opportunity to monetise content.
Read your doctor’s writing Google, using its AI and Machine Learning algorithms, will soon make it easier to read doctor’s prescriptions. It is not clear when the feature will roll out to users.
New Google Pay features Google Pay will help users better access their transaction history. For instance, using voice-based commands, users can ask “show me how much I spent on coffee last week” and the transactions will be listed. Google will also integrate deep-learning-based advanced algorithms to detect fraudulent behaviour and notify users in their native language on Google Pay.

Native language support for health info Google has also partnered with hospitals like Medanta, Narayana Health, and Manipal Hospitals to offer content spanning 100 medical ailments. This will be available in Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Gujarati, and Bengali.
