Google hosted its Next ‘18 event this week at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. The three-day event, with a focus on cloud technologies, saw keynotes and fireside chat, bootcamps and breakout sessions in full swing.

The theme of this year's conference was Made Here Together.

The tech giant announced several updates to its Cloud apps and services, along with advancements in AI.

Talking about its growth, Google said that Cloud is the next big thing, and Drive with its increasing number of users is the perfect example of that.

Google said its Drive will soon reach over 1 billion users, becoming the tech giant's eighth product to cross the mark after Gmail, Chrome, YouTube, Maps, among others. The cloud service recorded over 2 trillion file additions and over 800 million active users last year.

Last year, Android reached 2 billion active users, making it the biggest mobile operating system in the world.

Google's workplace software also got an update, with the introduction of smart reply feature in Hangouts chat, and grammar suggestions in Google Docs.

The grammar check feature, similar to the one in Microsoft Word, will use a unique machine translation-based approach to recognise grammatical errors and suggest corrections.

Giving more power to C-suite users, a new tool in the security center for G Suite helps admins identify which users are potentially infected, see if anything’s been shared externally and remove access to Drive files or delete malicious emails.

Google also showcased the upcoming Material Theme update for Gmail for Android which showed that the app will soon receive regular desktop features like quick attachments in Inbox view.

The date has also been set for Next 2019, which will take place from April 9 to 11 at the newly renovated Moscone in San Francisco.

Google wants to help you with digital well-being. The operating system's four new amazing features will help you plan your lives better and indulge in meaningful engagement.

Dashboard in Andoid P will give you access to a chart of apps you are engaging in and the activities within a certain app.

With the app-timer mode, your smartphone will nudge you when you are close to your limit of using one particular app, after which it will turn grey for the rest of the day to remind you of your goals.

If you enable the new do not disturb 'Shush' mode and keep your phone upside down, it will halt all notifications. However, only your suggested key contacts can reach out to you if this mode is enabled.

Snooze time will get better with 'Wind Down' feature. If your screen time before going to bed takes up more than an hour of your sleep time, this is boon in disguise. This feature will turn your screen grey, which automatically discourages your mind to engage in your phone.

If you wish to try these new updates now, 'Android P Beta' is available on Google Pixel and seven other flagship devices like Nokia, Vivo, OnePlus, Mi, Sony, Oppo, Essential.
