Google celebrates RK Narayan's 108th birthday with doodle
NEW DELHI: Google on Friday has dedicated a Google doodle to writer R K Narayan on his 108th birthday.

Rasipuram Krishnaswami Narayan, who is best known for his work Malgudi Days was born on 10th October, 1906. He started his career as a journalist and later took to writing novels, his first being Swami and Friends in 1935.

The doodle is simple with just the word 'Google' written in blue color on an earthen background with just the second 'O' signified by the head of a cartoonified author who can be seen reading Malgudi Days and just the top of his balding head is visible over the book.

The book has the title of Malgudi Days on the cover with the iconic village setting drawn under it and the back cover of the book has a black and white photograph of the author where he can be seen smiling.

He died of heart failure at the age of 94 on May 12, 2001.
