All eyes are on Ranbir Kapoor’s epic drama Ramayana: Part. The film, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, is ready to hit the theatres on November 5. Ramayana would have locked horns with another international film, Godzilla Minus Zero, but it seems like the box office clash has now been averted. Previously, Godzilla Minus Zero was scheduled to hit the big screens a day before Ramayana, on October 5. But the latest reports indicate that the Takashi Yamazaki-directed project has now been postponed by 2 weeks in India to ensure its commercial viability.

Ramayana vs Godzilla Minus Zero clash averted

According to a report by Variety, Ramayana is likely to occupy most of the premium-large-format (PLF) screens, including IMAX. As a result, Godzilla Minus Zero would have secured at most one PLF show that too with limited premium format screens in the domestic market and hence the decision was made.

As per an insider close to the development, Godzilla Minus Zero will be adapting a similar approach to Ryan Gosling’s Project Hail Mary. The adventure sci-fi was rescheduled 2 weeks later after the release of Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2 aka Dhurandhar: The Revenge.

‘The most likely scenario is that ‘Ramayana’ will release on its announced date, while ‘Godzilla Minus Zero’ will arrive in theatres two weeks later,’ said the source, as quoted by Variety. This move can help the film receive maximum premium showcases across Indian cinema halls.
