'Get a Green Card': Diljit Dosanjh gives unexpected reply to fan's advice amid Satluj controversy. 'I'll take a card and...'
Diljit Dosanjh addressed fans during an Instagram Live session a day after Satluj was removed from ZEE5, where he reacted with humour after a fan suggested he get a "Green Card." The singer-actor also spoke about the film's sudden takedown, saying...

During the Instagram Live, a fan wrote, "Paaji green card le lo." Responding with humour, Diljit said, "I'll take a card and colour it green. I'm not saying anything. Sab chhodke ye news ban jayegi. It is not possible to happen like this, it will never happen. The drama of the world will never end, but I say all... Everyone should be allowed to go to any country without a visa. The whole world should become one. I am fine, but it is not possible like this, is it?"
Rumours claiming that Diljit already has a Green Card have surfaced online several times over the years. However, the actor did not directly address those claims and instead chose to respond with a light-hearted remark.
Much of the live session focused on Satluj, which quietly premiered on ZEE5 on July 3 before being taken down within two days. Thanking viewers for watching the film, Diljit said, "I came live on Instagram to thank people for watching Satluj."
He added, "What I had feared actually happened. I thought the film would be taken down by Monday, but it happened sooner than expected. That's why we didn't promote the film. It was best to release the film (online) without any promotion. Today's youth is talking about Jaswant Singh Khalra. Every home is talking about Jaswant Singh Khalra."
'We fought this battle ourselves'
The actor reflected on the years spent trying to release the film and said the team never sought support from influential people."We've been fighting to get this film released for the last three to four years. We never went to anyone asking for support. I never asked anyone from my industry, nor did I ever ask anyone in Bollywood to help release our film, support us, or stand by us. We fought this battle ourselves," he said.
He added, "Everyone feels their own struggle is the biggest. Whatever work you're in, everyone is fighting their own battle on their own platform. We also brought our film to the audience ourselves and made sure it reached the people."
Diljit also revealed that the production itself faced several obstacles.
A film delayed for years
Directed by Honey Trehan, Satluj, earlier titled Punjab 95, is inspired by the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra. The film was submitted to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) in 2022 but did not receive certification. The filmmakers had earlier said the CBFC sought 127 cuts, and its planned premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2023 was later cancelled after reported objections from Indian authorities. The Economic Times Business News App for the Latest News in Business, Sensex, Stock Market Updates & More.
