German women slay Alia Bhatt’s ‘Patakha Guddi’ song, dance video charms Internet

Bollywood is taking over the world. From South Korea to Tanzania, everybody is grooving to Bollywood chartbusters. The latest to join the bandwagon of foreigners gaining social media attention with their desi dance moves are two women from Germany.

A video of two German women dancing to Alia Bhatt’s hit track ‘Patakha Guddi’ from the 2014 blockbuster ‘Highway’ has gone viral. The video made its way to the Internet after Palina Paleeva, a choreographer from Germany uploaded it on her Instagram account.

Palina and another dancer Emelia were seen dancing energetically to the hit Hindi song. While the song fuses traditional beats, the women in the video are seen doing contemporary dance moves to the AR Rahman song. They matched the Indian beats with their perfectly synchronized steps. ‘Patakha Guddi’ sung by Jyoti and Sultana Nooran was one of the most played songs of 2014.

The video has garnered over two million views and 170K likes. Several Indian Instagrammers were seen posting their appreciation in the comment section. ‘Highway’ helmed by film-maker Imtiaz Ali was an instant blockbuster. The film starred Randeep Hooda along with Alia. Its soundtrack composed by A R Rahman received an overwhelming response upon release.

Not long ago, a group of students from South Korea took the Internet by storm after they danced to Ranbir Kapoor’s hit track ‘Ghagra’ from ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Diwani. The students were seen dressed in traditional dresses and happily dancing to the Bollywood number. They were seen delivering a stellar performance complete with the hook step from the 2013 hit movie.
