She shared how her friend, a manager, was stressed out by a Gen Z employee’s seemingly lackadaisical attitude towards work and refusal to be a workaholic and be available for work even when they are on sick leave.
The employee's medical leave caused the problem to worsen. She felt irate and chose to take an extra two days off after the boss asked her to work remotely for a while. She went to a job interview with another company during that break, got the job, and resigned the following day.
According to reports, what transpired next inspired another Gen Z member of the same team to take a similar course. He too made the decision that he did not want to continue working after seeing his colleague go.
He allegedly informed his management that he had accrued paid leave that could be used to cover the notice period rather than fulfilling the mandatory notice period. He explicitly stated that he would not be going back.
