Who says you can’t show off your dance skills while getting rid of trash? A video of a man dancing while making the city cleaner is now doing the rounds on social media. The video shows the garbage collection, and picking up trash from various houses. However, instead of collecting the trash from the stationary vehicle, the man is seen running along the moving vehicle, he is seen dancing joyfully. The clip was shared by an Instagram user named myaimyou. Sharing the clip, the user wrote, “Delete your problems and be happy no matter where you are what you have just enjoy your life, bro.”

Obstacles in Waste Management

India faces significant difficulties in handling its waste, despite the informal sector contributing to waste recovery. Several key challenges persist:

Rapid urban growth: With urban populations of around 377 million, cities generate approximately 62 million tons of solid waste annually. However, only 43 million tons are properly collected, leaving the rest untreated or dumped in landfills.

Increasing e-waste: Electronic waste is a growing issue, with predictions indicating a sharp rise in its generation.

Insufficient waste collection infrastructure: India has only 21 million waste collectors, a stark contrast to China’s 700 million, resulting in inadequate coverage.

Poor recycling practices: Just about 30% of waste is sorted correctly, meaning valuable recyclable materials like aluminum and plastic often end up in landfills instead of being repurposed.
