Gangs of Wasseypur star Piyush Mishra admits he wasn’t a good husband, often cheated: ‘It took me 10-15 years to realise….’
Actor Piyush Mishra candidly shares his journey of personal growth. He admits to past marital shortcomings, acknowledging a delayed understanding of his role as a husband. A turning point arrived with Vipassana meditation, fostering empathy and em...

Looking back, he admitted that maturity came late. In his youth, love felt instinctive and impulsive, driven more by emotion than understanding. However, as he aged, his perception shifted. He came to see love not as fleeting passion but as a deeper bond rooted in companionship—the willingness of two people to stand by each other through the passage of time and grow old together. He recognised that his partner had accepted this journey with him long before he truly understood its meaning.
The actor confessed that it took him more than a decade—nearly 10 to 15 years—to fully grasp the reality of his marriage. For a long period, he viewed his wife, Priya Narayanan, in a limited, almost mechanical way, acknowledging her only in terms of her roles within the household and as the mother of his children. Emotional connection was absent, and he described himself as detached and unfeeling, not just in his relationship but in life overall.
A turning point came when he began practising Vipassana. Over the last 15 years, this practice gradually helped him reconnect with his emotions and develop empathy. He started to recognise the pain and struggles of others, something he had previously overlooked. Without his professional commitments, he believes he might have drifted into complete isolation, as work played a crucial role in keeping him grounded.
Mishra also spoke openly about his past infidelity and the moment he chose honesty. He recounted a deeply emotional conversation with his wife, where he revealed everything and sought to confront his mistakes. That exchange, filled with tears and vulnerability, ultimately strengthened their bond. His wife responded with understanding, acknowledging that both had erred in different ways, and chose to move forward together.
Married in 1995 in Delhi, the couple has since built a life together and are parents to two sons, Josh and Jai.
