From ‘work of art’ to ‘utterly boring’! Deepika Padukone’s latest release ‘Gehraiyaan’ has Twitter divided

The film, ‘Gehraiyaan’ made its debut on Amazon Prime Video tonight, and with its refreshing cast, unique storyline and Instagram reel worthy soundtrack, the film has already had many viewers in less than a day.

Twitter, of course, is flooded with mini reviews of the film by people who have already seen it, and if these initial reactions are anything to go by, the film is likely to polarise the Indian audience.

‘Gehraiyaan’ may seem like an infidelity drama on the surface, but it comes in layers, and delves deep into the complexities of human relationships and many Twitter users, who have seen the film, seem to be floored by the concept of the film itself.


While some are calling it ‘a work of art’, others are impressed by the nuance with which the subject of infidelity has been dealt.


Twitter users are also loving its ‘unique storyline’, which is ‘dark and intense’.



Most fans agree that Deepika Padukone has given an outstanding performance in the film, and all the initial reactions seem to praise her for her acting chops.

However, Naseerudin Shah seems to be the main scene stealer of the film, as many Twitter users are sharing his scenes, and praising his performance, especially his scenes with Padukone.


While little is being said about Ananya Pandey and Siddhant Chaturvedi’s performances so far, several have been utterly disappointed by the film as well. Few have called it ‘boring’, others have said that the characters in the film are not relatable.


This Shakun Batra film is a modern-day love story in which the protagonists fall out of love with their respective partners and seek it elsewhere. The film begins with Alisha played by Padukone being in a relationship with Karan (Dhairya Karwar) for six years. However, affections and loyalties swiftly change when she meets her cousin Tia’s (Pandey) fiance Zain(Siddhant Chaturvedi) and the two fall in love.
