From senior product managers to founders: Check career profiles of Big B's granddaughter Navya Naveli's classmates at IIM Ahmedabad

Navya Naveli Nanda, granddaughter of Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan, has been in the public eye for years mainly because of her family background. But her academic path has been very different from what many might expect. Instead of stepping into films, she chose business studies and is currently enrolled in the blended MBA programme at IIM Ahmedabad.

Recently, she shared a set of campus photos on social media and wrote, “A place that’s given me more than I can ever give it back… And the people who have done the same! One final time,” giving a small personal glimpse into her student life. The pictures showed her spending time on campus benches, attending classes, and moving through lecture halls and corridors, reflecting a fairly normal student routine away from the public attention she usually gets.

Navya joined IIM Ahmedabad in 2024 for its blended MBA programme, which combines online learning with in-person campus sessions. She has earlier spoken about how going back to formal education was not easy at first, especially in an institute known for its strict academic structure. Still, she has described the experience as rewarding and something that adds a new layer to her learning.


In past, she also made it clear that there was no pressure from her family to join Bollywood. According to her, the family has always supported individual choices, whether in films or outside it. That clarity has shaped her decision to stay focused on business and entrepreneurship rather than entertainment.

Classmates with strong corporate and tech backgrounds

What stands out at IIM Ahmedabad’s MBA batch is the kind of professional experience many students bring with them. Navya’s classmates include people who have already worked in senior product roles in tech companies, managing areas like customer experience, mobile applications, and AI-driven platforms. Some have also built early careers in software engineering and data analytics before moving into management education.

One such peer has worked across product management roles in multiple tech-driven companies, including CX-focused startups and AI platforms, eventually reaching a senior product management position. Their background shows a steady shift from engineering and analytics into product leadership roles.


Another classmate comes from a core engineering background, working with global communication and networking companies as a hardware engineer. Alongside industry experience, they have also been involved in technical internships, student leadership roles, and international exposure during their academic years.

There is also a strong presence of professionals from data and consulting backgrounds. One of the classmates has spent years in analytics and software roles, later moving into data consulting and business analytics-focused positions. Their career path shows a gradual transition from engineering roles into more strategy and decision-oriented work.

Consulting, leadership, and entrepreneurial experience

The batch also includes professionals who have spent nearly a decade in consulting firms, working across decision analytics and management consulting. One of them even briefly ran an independent advisory venture before returning to structured corporate consulting roles, showing a mix of entrepreneurial and corporate experience.

Overall, the classroom environment appears to be a mix of product leaders, engineers, consultants, and analysts, all bringing different industry experiences into one academic space. This kind of peer learning is often seen as a key part of MBA programmes at institutions like IIM Ahmedabad.
