In just one year, a bold investment turned a contemporary men’s fashion brand into a market sensation. The Bear House, an apparel company inspired by European fashion, skyrocketed from a Rs 100 crore valuation to an astonishing Rs 1,500 crore. What began as an online venture with a monthly recurring revenue of Rs 9 crore has now expanded to 14 offline stores, generating Rs 25 crore per month and capturing the aspirational spirit of India’s Gen Z.

Emcure Pharmaceuticals Executive Director Namita Thapar, one of the sharks on Shark Tank India season 5, backed The Bear House in March 2025 with a strategic Rs 3 crore investment. The deal was structured as Rs 1 crore for a 1% equity stake and Rs 2 crore in debt. Thapar’s belief in the brand stemmed from its profitability, scalability, and innovative product line, as well as her keen sense of Gen Z’s appetite for fashion-forward, self-expressive purchases.

The co-founders, Tanvi and Harsh Somaiya, impressed the sharks with their clear vision and brand strategy. Kunal Bahl also made an offer, proposing Rs 3 crore for a 3% equity stake at the same Rs 100 crore valuation, but the Somaiyas chose Thapar’s deal for its alignment with their long-term growth plan.

The founders bring an impressive mix of education and expertise. Tanvi Somaiya studied at Mithibai College and KC College, earning a BA in Mass Media, an MA in Communication and Journalism, and completing a course at the National Institute of Fashion Technology, Mumbai. Harsh Somaiya completed his schooling at Narsee Monjee Educational Trust’s Jamnabai Narsee School and Good Shepherd International School, followed by a Bachelor’s in Management Studies from Usha Pravin Gandhi College of Arts, Commerce and Science.

Under their leadership, The Bear House has rapidly evolved from a digital-first startup to a multi-location retail brand, capturing the hearts of India’s young, aspirational shoppers while proving that smart investments and strategic vision can create runaway success in just 12 months.
