Canadian singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen passed away late on Thursday night. The legend was 82, and had recently told the New Yorker, "I am ready to die. I hope it's not too uncomfortable. That's about it for me."

The artist, writer and poet sung who sang about politics, isolation, religion, sex, and death said his final goodbye.

This news comes just weeks after the release of his 14th studio album 'You Want It Darker'. His death was confirmed on his Facebook page.


Music lovers across the world have been in mourning ever since, and many took to social media to pay a tribute to the man who defined music for millions.

On 21 September 1934, Leonard Cohen was born in Montreal to a Jewish family of Polish origin. His father died when he was nine years old. He studied history at McGill University in Montreal.

His first poetry volumes -- "Let Us Compare Mythologies" was published when he moved to New York from Montreal. With his many thoughts, moods, subjects made profound with his hauntingly bass voice, Cohen was possibly one of the most influential artists of his time.
